Andy Puddicombe: Why Should We Meditate?
I think we all have the potential to change.
Don’t mean that through a forcing of will, rather better understanding our minds, seeing clearly, understanding what causes unhappiness, what causes happiness. Be able to let it go of these things that cause unhappiness.
People often ask me, what I learned from that time.
I teach me a appreciation, understanding for the present moment,
By that, I mean not being lost in thought, not being distracted, not being overwhelmed by difficulty emotions,
But instead of learning how to be mindful, how to be present,
I mean the present moment is so underrated, we spend so little time in the present moment,
“how to you stay in present, is it by constantly remind yourself”
It is interesting, overtime, it’s like a muscle of memory,
If we done it enough, it will becoming stronger and stronger.
On average, our mind lost in thoughts about 47%, This constantly mind wondering, is a directly cause of unhappiness.
